Learn from experienced students

Mentoring programs offer you the opportunity to learn from others who’ve been there – from students who’ve been at UZH for a while already, or from alumni. They can give you support and valuable tips on studying at UZH.

BiUZ, the student association for life science study programs at UZH assigns you a mentor who can help if you have questions about uni life, campus or individual modules.

At the Faculty of Business, Economics and Informatics, you’re automatically assigned a mentor at the Fresher's Event.

English Literature and Linguistics: Peer Mentoring

The English Department’s student association (FAVA) offers a peer mentoring program for new students. If you register as a mentee, you’ll be matched with a mentor from a higher semester.

Geography & Earth Sciences: Buddy System

The Geography & ESS student association runs a buddy system for new students. A buddy from a higher semester takes on a group of interested new students and sets up a group chat where students can ask questions about studying at UZH, get to know their peers and organize shared lunches.

JusCoaching offers valuable tips and advice from experienced students to help you make a success of your studies.

The mathematics student association offers counseling sessions for students by phone, video, or in person.

Psychology: Mentoring Program

The psychology student organization – FAPS for short – offers a mentoring program that you can sign up for within the first three weeks of the semester.

Exchange and dialogue via student associations

You can compare notes and share information on your subject with students at all academic levels on an informal basis through the student association for your study program. It’s definitely worth getting involved, especially when you’re a new student.
