UZH for Students

Organization

Seven faculties, over 150 departments

UZH is made up of seven teaching, research and administrative units known as faculties. Each faculty consists of a number of departments, institutes or clinics that are responsible for the courses in the various study programs. Find out more about the organization on the main UZH website:

Study program determines faculty membership

Your major study program (or single major) determines which faculty you belong to. Your study program also dictates which department or clinic you are a member of. You’ll find an overview of the seven faculties and their associated departments, institutes, clinics and centers on the main UZH website:

Where to go if you have questions?

If you have questions about study structure, program regulations, credits or degrees, you can contact the dean’s office, which is the administrative unit in your faculty. For questions on the content of study programs, contact your department or institute. You’ll find information on the structure and organizations of programs on your faculty’s website, and information on the content and subject matter on the website of your department or institute.

Central services for general matters

In addition to the faculties, UZH has Central Services, which include Student Services, Central IT and the various advisory offices. They are responsible for general matters (i.e. not subject-related), and administrative support. You’ll find an overview of the various advisory offices and student services under “Advice and Support”:
