With your enrollment documents you’ll receive a password letter from Central IT containing your digital access details. You’ll find everything you need to know about your personal UZH Account on the Central IT website:

All students at UZH get a personal email address. Messages relating to your studies are sent to this address. You should therefore set up your email account as soon as you receive the access details.

Using remote VPN access allows you to access the UZH network and internal services when you’re off site. You’ll also find instructions on setting up a VPN connection on the Central IT website:

After matriculation and successful payment of your semester fees, you’ll receive your personal UZH Card. The UZH Card is your identity card, library card and electronic access card to enter UZH buildings and premises. The UZH Card has to be validated at the start of every semester. Everything you need to know about this can be found on the UZH Card website:

You can complete all the administrative processes related to your studies directly on the Student Portal. You’ll receive the access details with your enrollment documents.

When you matriculate onto a study program, you are automatically enrolled for the first and upcoming semesters. So you only need to take action if there’s a change to your study plans.
Studies Organization: Semester Enrollment
After expiry of the semester enrollment review period, the invoice for semester fees is automatically issued and available for download in the Student Portal under “My requests and invoices”.
As soon as your tuition fees have been received, you’ll get access to the module booking tool. You can then search, select and book modules – subject to the applicable module booking deadlines. For this purpose, we’ve put together a separate page with all the key information on booking modules.
